Giandomenico Veneziani

"My name is Giandomenico Veneziani. I am an Italian photographer. I approached photography from a young age. I have learned over time the techniques and the infinite possibilities of artistic creation. Photographic experimentation finds ample expression during my travels. I was inspired by people, their stories, faces, emotions. Photography for me is an important means of sharing feelings and stories of the people I photograph. I take inspiration mainly from painting, books and films. I also studied the most important photographers who made the history of photography. I really like portraits and fashion photography. I try to make unique and unconventional shots giving my portraits a cinematic vision."

Back to you, 60x40, Photography, 2021

" My world is dying, everything around me loses life force.

Everything fades away and the battle for survival is turning into hatred and pain.

I travel in search of a solution. I have no destination, there is no point of arrival. I move around trying to capture the essence of rebirth.

There is a gap in front of me, I think it's a door: through it... suddenly a wave submerges me. I am about to drown and I know that I have to swim hard to emerge from these strange and rushing waters. I close my eyes and when I open them again I find myself floating on a body of water.

I don't know where I am, this new world is different from mine.

I'm tired, but with the little strength I have left I try to emerge from this sea. I think my journey cannot end with a surrender. My only purpose is to be able to save my fellow men, my mind is pervaded only by this goal.

I wander through unknown and hostile lands. The heat suffocates me and that big star on the horizon burns my skin. I'm about to give up. My appearance has changed, my shape is no longer the same. I know it's still me, even if I have a hard time recognizing myself.

At one point, bordering on desperation, I notice something: a light calls me insistently, it scares me, but at the same time it fascinates me.

Slowly I approach.

The voice of the light becomes more and more intense. My body shakes.

Here she is!

That light takes possession of me, it enters by tearing my skin. No pain. I can perceive serenity and harmony. My body has new energy. It pervades me, it runs through my veins, I feel it.

I have become a new being.

Now I know I can go home. My people need me.

Only by getting lost did I understand how to find my way home and now I bring with me the solution to the drama my people are facing."

Concept: Back to you is a photographic project with a cinematic style oriented towards the science fiction genre. Through a succession of images in sequence we want to visually tell the story of our main character who, for some reason, finds himself catapulted to Earth, deserted, inhospitable and hostile. He has a very specific purpose, that is to find a source of lost energy, contained in a casket that centuries earlier had been sent to Earth so that the inhabitants could benefit and use it not only as a source of energy, in fact, but as a source of aggregation and kindness towards others. Unfortunately, humans have not been able to use this energy given to them by another distant world. Our protagonist will therefore necessarily have to find her to go home and save his world. At first he finds himself disoriented, desperate and above all he feels alone. Luckily he manages to find the chest, put on the energy source and finally return home to save his people and who he truly loves."

A deal with God, 60x40, Photography, 2022

" The heart of Hell is not fire, but ice.

Cold as hatred, dehumanization and relational death. The body is enveloped by the cold waters of the Cocytus and at that moment all desire is extinguished and man can only contemplate his failure.

Cryogenized in this immense river, which separates the world of the living from that of the dead, the human being becomes stone, soulless, insignificant, mute and inert. He lets himself be transported aimlessly by the great Luciferian sacrificial machine and the 'mperador of the painful kingdom, mocking, makes fun of the imperfect creation of the Father, who observes the macabre infernal dance choreographed by his last Son from above.

He is aware of how great the suffering of mortals is, as it is he himself who inflicts it in the same way as the Fallen Angel.

The truth is that the Almighty feels envy for the pleasure that the Morning Star feels in giving pain.

With lies he helps man to ascend to Him. His intent is not to save him, but his only reason for being is to be able to continue the eternal struggle with his beloved Genius of Evil.

OUTFIT

With the photographic work "A Deal with God" the author wanted to depict that fine line that divides good and evil, underlining the fact that man is not able to act with free will, as he is only a puppet in the hands of a twisted Universe.

To bring the right images to life, it was decided to use the salt factory located inside the salt pans of Margherita di Savoia, in Puglia (Italy) as a location.

The choice of outfits was important. Thanks to the collaboration with the artist Saverio Maggio, who lent his creations to the project, it was possible to make the poetry inherent in the photographic story impactful.

The clothes, with their ethereal style and light image, are actual works of art. Recycled materials were used for their construction. With his hands and his creativity, the stylist carries out real transformations, giving new life and a new dimension to what for all to see are considered simple waste.

From a simple blister pack of medicines or milk containers, together with scraps of fabric of different levels of value, it is possible to compose harmonious garments like a symphony, which enhance the wearer, giving the whole a surreal image.

The study of materials and their processing produce artifacts that can be defined as handicraft diamonds.

The craftsman is the one who with his work can provide us with the necessary tools to save us from alienation, neurosis and anxiety typical of contemporary living, giving the world magic and enchantment."

The World Away, 60x40, Photography, 2023

" She landed in our world she learned to be with others, she got to know customs and traditions, language and feelings. She never misses an opportunity to tell about her world away from her where they are all like her but she dreams of a ship that is her friend to bring her back to her native world where she feels at home.”

Words hurt more than a weapon, 60x40, Photography, 2019

"

Words hurt more than a weapon" is an extremely simple concept, almost banal. A mantra that is repeated to us since childhood, swirling into our heads as if it were a nursery rhyme, but how much are we really aware of the meaning of this essential rule?

The naked and helpless body, with no defence, curled up in front of the void, is bombarded by a whirlwind of words.

Words of war, words of hate, words that hurt.

We try to avoid them, we do not want to hear them, we try to protect ourselves with our bare hands, but that is not enough!

The pain that is perceived has no middle ground, has no nuances and has no colors, everything is cold, nothing warms.

Human vulnerability emerges, highlighting the total absence of defenses, demonstrating how pungent the emotional pain caused by simple words that travel in the air, move, run and rotate.

The words seem light and harmless, but the footprint they leave on the skin is marked, heavy and dark and nothing can erase it."
